At Color Pond, our studios are designed around more than just age. Each level considers an artist's age, skill, confidence, independence, and creative readiness.
Our age ranges are a starting point, but they are not strict boundaries. Artists grow at different rates, and we want each artist to be appropriately challenged while still feeling supported and successful.
Ages 4-6
Little Creators
A playful introduction to the world of art! Little Creators explore color, shape, line, pattern, texture, and mixed media while developing foundational art skills, fine-motor skills, and creative confidence.
Projects encourage young artists to experiment, make choices, and discover that there is more than one way to create.
Perfect for: Artists who are beginning their creative journey and love to explore.
Ages 6-8
Young Visionaries
Young Visionaries begin moving from simply making art to thinking like an artist. They develop stronger drawing, color, shading, composition, and mixed-media skills while learning to make more intentional creative choices.
Projects encourage artists to experiment, problem-solve, and begin developing their own artistic ideas and style.
Perfect for: Artists who are ready to build their skills and become more confident, independent creators.
Ages 8-12
Emerging Artists
Emerging Artists take their skills to the next level through more challenging projects, techniques, and creative problem-solving.
Artists explore drawing, painting, colored pencil, mixed media, perspective, composition, visual storytelling, and personal expression while learning to develop original ideas and make thoughtful artistic decisions.
Perfect for: Artists who have developed foundational skills and are ready for greater challenge and independence.
Ages 13+
Teen Studio
Teen Studio is our space for artists who are ready to take greater ownership of their creative process.
This is more than an "older kids" art class. Artists explore personal style, concept development, advanced techniques, experimentation, portfolio work, visual storytelling, and artistic voice through increasingly independent projects.
Artists have more freedom to explore their interests, choose materials and approaches, and create work that feels uniquely their own.
Perfect for: Artists who are ready for advanced challenges, greater independence, and developing their identity as an artist.
